The XIII Technical Conference on Maintenance in the Chemical and Process Industry, organised by the Association of Chemical, Basic and Energy Industries of Huelva (AIQBE) and the Spanish Maintenance Association (AEM), The event, held on 4 and 5 June in Huelva, brought together industry experts to discuss the challenges of digitalisation and decarbonisation in industry. The event, which brought together experts and industry leaders, addressed the challenges of digitalisation and decarbonisation, underlining the importance of collaboration between companies and administrations to advance these challenges.

The conference covered a variety of topics in three sessions. The first day focused on the impact of digitalisation on maintenance activity, including real experiences of implementation in industrial environments. Aspects such as sensorisation, monitoring in management, shutdowns and cybersecurity were discussed, underlining the importance of safety and professionalism of personnel.

The day concluded with a debate-colloquium on the reality of digitalisation and the problems to face the challenges and generate opportunities, with the participation of service and industry companies.

The second day began with the analysis of technologies for decarbonisation and their application in maintenance, highlighting those that improve staff training. The day concluded with a panel discussion on staff training, addressing the current and future needs of the industry and how training is crucial to respond to the challenges of decarbonisation, with the strategic vision of the Administration.
