MASA has recently completed a complex boiler assembly project at the ammonia plant of Fertiberia, in Palos de la Frontera, which included significant structural and civil modifications. MASA stands out for its efficiency in completing the work with 0 accidents and in record time.
The boiler assembly project at the Fertiberia plant carried out by MASA has included significant additional work, such as the modification of the transfer lines, including refractory work and dissimilar welding. The execution of the project has been completed in its entirety, despite the numerous reforms required due to interferences.
One of the biggest challenges of the project was the weight of the new boilers, which required modification of all existing civil works, as well as major structural modifications. This included excavations for new footings to a depth of 1.5 metres. The peculiarity of the plant, which is vertical and works on a 3×8 metre grid, greatly increased the volume of scaffolding required to complete the work.
The main achievement of these works has been the execution of the project in a minimum time frame, highlighting the success of 0 accidents. With this project, MASA has demonstrated its capacity to complete works of high technical difficulty in record time.
The Fertiberia plant, with the replacement of the boilers, expects to be able to work with green hydrogen in the future, achieving greater reliability and energy savings with the new installation. This collaboration underlines MASA's commitment to innovation and efficiency in highly complex industrial projects.
