Assembly of equipment, structures and piping for the first Isopropyl Alcohol production plant in Spain.

MASA is carrying out the mechanical assembly, metal structure, insulation and painting at the CEPSA Química plant in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva), as part of the IPA project. This project is an important milestone as it is the first plant in Spain for the production of Isopropyl Alcohol.

The scope of works includes the installation of equipment, piping and structures within the process area of the factory, an area that presents considerable technical challenges. Among the highlights is the installation of a new 650-metre flare line, which will be connected to the existing network through the process racks.

Furthermore, the assembly of the E-1510 Column, weighing 70 tonnes, requires complex manoeuvring due to its location and limited accessories.

The main project data include:

  • 58,500 inches of pipe installed.
  • 525 tonnes of metal structure.
  • 44 tonnes in pipe supports.
  • 65 tonnes for dynamic equipment and 276 tonnes for static equipment.
  • 45 tonnes of equipment platforms.

The project involves the simultaneous execution of work in different areas of the plant, which requires precise planning to ensure efficiency and safety at each stage of the process.
