MASA has been awarded a contract for the migration of REPSOL Tarragona's current SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems) systems to the process automation platform of Siemens SIMATIC PCS7.
The current SIS systems are developed using SIMATIC S7-400 safety PLCs from Siemens and as user interface (HMI) they are using the Scada WINCC system. With the new upgrade, the entire software (PLC+HMI) is migrated to the Siemens PCS7 platform.
SIAMTIC PCS7
This platform, among other features, will allow the communication of data from the SIS systems to Honeywell's DCS distributed control system, which is an important milestone as currently the two systems, SIS and DCS, operate in isolation.
This new project, which includes intervention in four different areas of the refinery and is endowed with 8,900 engineering HH, is the consequence of a first pilot project carried out by MASA two years ago. The success of this first project now gives us the opportunity to implement this new control system in the rest of the areas of the Repsol Tarragona refinery.
This new contract consolidates MASA's presence as a supplier of automation engineering services at the Repsol Tarragona refinery.
